He has a bad feeling about knowing that Satoru Hatano was out of prison.

He notices that Mariko and Izumi walk into the café, and she decides to go elsewhere to eat, and he decides to leave instead. She tells Izumi that she is embarrassed at showing her emotions to a subordinate. Izumi tells Mariko to follow her heart as they talked about the matchmaking date she previously went on. She said that she wanted a more talkative person to speak freely and to ask more questions while on the date.
Mariko meets her father at the elevator, and he asks her to meet him for dinner with a professor from Kokuo University at 7:30 p.m. as noted by the young secretary Seto. She asks about the former secretary Asai, and he says that he was taking time off. President Nose tells her to contact Seto for his schedules.

Yukimura is checking on Secretary Asai’s investigations on the newly released kidnapper Saturo Hatano. Meanwhile, Asai is hand and foot bound by Hatano as he denies that President Nose was keeping tabs on Hatano’s whereabouts. Hatano accuses Asai for telling a reporter of a weekly magazine about his release from prison. Asai denies this and asks to be set free and they could pretend that nothing happened. Hatano is adamant about that it was time to return the favor for his 25 years imprisonment. Although President Nose had an easy life because he was rich, Hatano’s wasn’t pleasant. He needed money but there was something more that he needed from President Nose.
Trying to remain preoccupied, Mariko tries to figure out what was wrong with the chemical mixtures in the cosmetic, Yukimura listens as she talks to herself. Mariko looks up at him and apologizes about the incident on her birthday, and he says he didn’t remember anything just to appease her. She continues to talk and tells him that she finally admitted to her father that she was stubborn. When he reassures her that she is a kind person, she tells him that he is the only person who thinks she is. She walks away and asks him to handle the brief on the product.
Izumi teases Yukimura about his liking Mariko and tells him that she has not realized this. She tells him that he must tell her or she will never know how he felt about her.
Sayuri goes to the Private Investigator to find out what the business was between him and Tateiwa but the man denies this. She tells him that Tateiwa told her to see the investigator if something happened to Tateiwa who has disappeared. She bribes the investigator with money to get information from him.
At the police office, Detective Sakura and his men are discussing Tateiwa’s secret room where he met with his lover that was wiped clean of any evidence. His laptop was cleared of data, and they wondered who knew about the place and had access. Sakura suggests that the killer of Tateiwa was a man because of the depth of the stab wound in the chest and he points to Sota Yukimura who is caught on camera walking, they had to find the motive.
Sakura meets Mariko at the Drip & N:ote café and says he admires the difference of the place. He probes about Yukimura and asks the reason why she transferred Yukimura to her department. She couldn’t believe that Sakura suspected her staff and defends him as innocent. Mariko took the blame for the altercations with Tateiwa saying that none of her employees had any issues with him. Sakura leaves unconvinced.
Tomoya asks Mariko if Sakura was her matchmaking date. She nods and he hints that he doesn’t see the spark between them. He instead mentions that Yukimura liked only one person for all his life which strikes Mariko.
In the office she tells Yukimura that it wasn’t his job to give her coffee, and he takes it away quickly. Two people notice the incident, Takumi tells him that Mariko was being harsh which Ryoko brushes aside because he was doing it so Mariko would like him. They warn him that Mariko doesn’t like being given special treatment. Yukimura reconsiders and fears that she might begin to hate him.
Izumi and Tomoya have mutual feelings for each other and date in the park with Sara, Izumi’s daughter. She begins to approve of Tomoya as she sees how Sara likes him.
Secretary Seto secretly meets with Sayuri in the car to give her a thumb drive with information that was given to President Nose the day of the incident. She praises the bespectacled boy and prompts him to inform her immediately if there is more information.
Mariko goes personally to customers to explain the scandal about the article with Yukimura who volunteered to accompany her. Along the way they encounter Haturo but there is no reaction from Mariko because she did not know the face of the kidnapper. Yukimura buys band aids to put on her blistered foot because of new shoes. She confirms what Tomoya told her about how he liked only one person for all his life. So, he tells her about how the person was his heroine. He drops his things as he stands up and she notices his hogeban pen. She flashes back to her childhood when someone left her a box of band aid for the scratches left by her slippers on her foot while she was on a date and also the radiophones with a similar hogeban. This made her wonder if he was the same boy who ran away after leaving those things for her.
Sayuri calls Yukimura to meet her. She knows and tells him about his profile and that she was convinced of his guilt. He laughs at this and reverses the charge about her as the one who killed Tateiwa. Sayuri asks what he is to Mariko and he says he is her protector.
