Take a Hike!

Car, the garden, Dowoon, Lee Chae-min, and Tarzzan may come from very different corners of Korean entertainment, but none has much reason to call themselves a hiker. Car, the garden is a singer-songwriter who may also be familiar to Netflix viewers as a mentor on Better Late Than Single, while DAY6 drummer Dowoon has charmed variety audiences with glimpses of his offstage life on I Live Alone. Actor Lee Chae-min has been steadily rising through dramas such as Crash Course in Romance and Netflix’s Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, while Tarzzan brings a younger, distinctly different energy as a member of the K-pop group ALLDAY PROJECT. Putting this unlikely group together is Na Young-seok, a legendary figure in Korean variety television and the producer behind the original 2 Days & 1 Night, a show that helped define the travel-variety genre. This time, however, his idea of a group outing involves sending four inexperienced hikers straight into Korea’s winter mountains. Their first expedition takes them through snow-covered peaks, exhausting climbs, and brutal weather, along with the surprisingly complicated problem of getting back down. As four strangers from different generations and corners of the entertainment industry learn to rely on one another, the trip gradually becomes less about reaching the summit and more about friendship, endurance, and figuring out why anyone would willingly climb a mountain in the first place.
